Due to the risks associated with international travel, the University
requires the purchase of CSURMA Foreign Travel Liability Insurance
for all University-sponsored international travel eligible for coverage.
All University auxiliaries and Extended Education have also adopted
this requirement.
Foreign travel liability insurance premiums for all University
sponsored international travel will be paid as an all-University
expense. Individuals traveling internationally on a trip or program
sponsored by a campus auxiliary or Extended Education may be responsible
for paying the insurance premiums.
CSURMA’s Foreign Travel Liability Insurance Program is designed
to provide financial protection for both trip participants and the
University for claims arising from sponsored international travel.
While this insurance does not eliminate campus liability, it provides
an alternative funding source for losses associated with general
liability, automobile liability and Workers’ Compensation
coverage. For a description of this coverage, please click on the

Individual health insurance is required for any individual traveling
as part of a University or Extended Education program who is not
a University employee or volunteer. Individual health insurance
may be required for any individual traveling as part of an ASC or
ASI program who is not either an auxiliary employee or volunteer.
On trips where individual health insurance is required, students
who do not have individual health insurance must purchase health
insurance with benefits at least as extensive as health insurance
offered through the CSU. For a description of this coverage, please

Any individual who is not a University employee or volunteer must
sign one of the two agreements below PRIOR TO LEAVING ON THE TRIP.
To track faculty, staff, students, volunteers and guests traveling
abroad on University-sponsored trips, the University has created
a secure, centralized international travel maintained by the Office
of University Risk Management. If you need information about the
status of a faculty member, staff member, student, volunteer or
guest traveling abroad, please contact the Office of University
Risk Management or University Police.
